This blog post is about the class discussion we had about Miss Representation and The Mask You Live in. We analyzed both of them by identifying key words and information to start our upcoming research project. Miss Representation exposes how mainstream media and culture contribute treats women. The film draws back a curtain to reveal a glaring reality we live with everyday but fail to see how the media's limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls makes it difficult for women to feel powerful and achieve leadership positions. Society portrays women in negative ways everyday only to leave women trying to fix themselves, so they can look more beautiful. Everything on the internet, news, and social media is portraying women like a sex object for men. The last three words exemplify how a woman is strong in a world where they aren’t considered “perfect” and where they are only seen as a sex object instead of a powerful person. Women should be treated equal as men, they work and do the same thing but never gets the same respect or equal pay. As a guy the film made really upset because I truly think everybody should be equal in every aspect of life.

I agree that everyone should be treated equally no matter your gender because that is not fair and not what America should be.
